The universal word in the Swiss version of the German language is “cheib/chaib”.
It is usually used as an analogue of German “sehr” – “very”:
- Cheibeguet – sehr gut,
- Cheibegross – sehr groß.
Please note:
- E cheibe schöni Gritte is a very beautiful woman;
- E schöni cheibe Gritte is a beautiful stubborn woman.
In other words, “cheib/chaib” is also used as an adjective.
The verb “cheib/chaib” means “jump/run/run away”.
And as a noun, “der Cheib” is “guy/dude”. For example, “dummi cheibe” is “stupid guy”.
That’s a multifaceted word!
