Today’s material is entirely devoted to the word “Freikörperkultur” – “free body culture”. FKK is nothing more than naturism. This is what they call the phenomenon in the Russian-speaking environment. Naturism is a way of life which preaches life in harmony with nature, as a consequence – respect for its creations, including its own body.
Nowadays such practices are spread all over the world, but it is believed that everything originated in Germany 100 years ago. The first naturists were people who sympathized with the ideologies of socialism. Mostly proletarians. It was a kind of protest against religious and state prohibitions. The abbreviation FKK was included in many languages of the world.
Naturally, in the beginning the movement did not have that reputation, its adherents were not accepted by the society as they are now. The police and public morality guards were not always on their side. But now almost every third German or Austrian has gone to the beach or the park naked.
There are even rumours that Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, was also involved in the movement. A few years ago, a politician’s photo flew on the beach with friends without clothes. The authenticity of the photo was neither proven nor refuted. More importantly, the Germans were not shocked, embarrassed or outraged by it (unlike the representatives of other countries).
The place where one can feel the culture in full is a German bathhouse. Everyone goes there naked. And men, women, and children. This tradition has long gone beyond the culture of the free body. To embarrass those present, you have to be in a place like this in a bathrobe. In addition, there are special beaches, hotels, sports sections, sea cruises, fitness studios, etc. These services are used by millions of people every year.
The staff of FKK facilities can politely ask you to take off your clothes if you violate local regulations. No one will force you to pull your underwear off, but it is considered very rude to come to a place for naturists dressed here.
Nude burgers even have their own Deutscher Verband für Freikörperkultur – the German Association for Free Body Culture. Its members are 50,000 people. The association even holds its own Olympic Games.
Of course, not everyone likes it. A third of the people in Germany find this practice disgusting. But it’s worth remembering that no one imposes their views on others. If someone is concerned about the level of public morality, it is worth remembering that this is primarily a family holiday.
