One of the accommodation options that may suit students is “Wohnen für Hilfe” – “living for help”. The idea is quite simple: there are people with disabilities, senior citizens and families with many children. That is, you settle down to someone, help with household chores, household chores, do homework with the children, walk the dog or whatever you may have difficulties with, and in return receive free accommodation.
Conditions may be different, sometimes you can get only a discount. Any adult student who is ready to accept the conditions can become a participant in this program. In order to participate, it is only necessary to fill out a form in the project office and pass an interview. The program operates in many cities in Germany. Typically, this program involves 1 hour of work per month per 1 square meter of housing provided.
But participation in this program is not the only way to find housing for help. As we said before, you need to check social networks, and even better newspaper ads.
